VP Alupo Urges Teso Residents to Embrace Banking
Housing Finance Bank has launched a new branch in Soroti to enhance financial inclusion, with Vice President Jessica Alupo encouraging residents to leverage banking services for economic growth.

 

Housing Finance Bank has extended its services to Soroti district, aiming to bring banking closer to residents and promote greater inclusion in the money economy.

At the new branch, customers can access a wide range of services, including savings and current accounts, personal and business loans, mortgages, investment opportunities, and advisory services.

The bank’s digital platforms also allow seamless online transactions, complementing in-person services.

Speaking at the branch opening, Vice President Jessica Alupo said the establishment demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving financial access in the Teso Sub-Region.

“Indeed, this is a strategic intervention that will enhance the accessibility of financial services here,” Alupo said. She urged residents to take advantage of the bank’s products to improve their livelihoods.

The Vice President highlighted the critical role of the banking sector in national development, noting that financial institutions contribute to inclusion, stability, and responsible wealth creation.

She emphasized that agriculture remains the backbone of Teso’s economy, with citrus, grains, cattle, fisheries, and poultry forming the livelihoods of many households.

Soroti, she noted, is emerging as a strategic agro-industrial hub, supported by government infrastructure and private investment.

“This branch is an economic rebalancing tool. It brings services closer to you, reduces exclusion, and amplifies regional momentum,” Alupo said.

She commended Housing Finance Bank for investing in Soroti, describing banking as a driver of socio-economic transformation.

Alupo encouraged the community to engage with the bank to understand its programs, leverage its products, and partner in initiatives. She also expressed hope for a branch in Katakwi district in the future.

Housing Finance Bank Managing Director Michael Mugabi said the branch opening demonstrates the bank’s commitment to empowering individuals, supporting businesses, and transforming communities.

“This development reflects our mission to deliver efficient, innovative, and customer-focused financial services that truly empower communities and transform lives,” Mugabi said.

The Soroti branch adds to the bank’s 22-branch nationwide network, reinforcing its focus on financial inclusion and economic empowerment.
